Loyalty and Business Sense.

I have been sitting on this post for a day or two but today I want to write it.  I started thinking about how great it is to start building traffic and actually having people reading my blog.  It is exciting to be putting out a product and having someone consume it.  A product that is part of my brain and has required no sweat or muscle to produce.

I have been excited to get replies to my comments on other sites, and on my site.  It is exciting to be “out there” and getting noticed.  If I keep on this way I will be famous in a few years.  That is my hope at least.

I was also thinking about loyalty.  I have several blogs in my RSS reader and I usually keep up with them fairly well.  I have been commenting more and have been plesantly surprised at responses.  Those blogs I tend to want to visit more and more.  If someone posts a comment on my site I want to reply to the comment and then go see what they have in store.  I have been keeping track of people on twitter the same way.

I follow a bunch of people and reply to many who are not following me because I have an opinion damnit and you will at least see there was a tweet directed somewhere vaguely in your general direction.  It is coold to “talk” to people all over the world from one interface though.  You all are my only friends….Just kidding I do interact with humans.  Mostly small ones, but still humans. (written as my 3 year old is begging for Dora the Explorer to return)

So, to go with Loyalty, I read a post on Mike’s Life blog today about reciprocity.  Go ahead and read it yourself but it made me think about loyalty to those who are “with” you on your blog/business.  Mike stated that he has been an affiliate of this other site and has sent traffic to it, if that traffic did not come to sales, that is business.  Mike has done his job and paved the way for a sale to take place.  My opinion, and the way I want to conduct myself in business, if someone I have even heard of doing anything for me wants my help I will do everything I can to help.

I may think differently later but ever since business school I have thought the same.  Give great customer service and go for quality over quantity.  That may limit some income opportunities but I will have loyal customers that will come back and tell their friends about me and my business.  You can’t put a price on that.

Until later,

Justin

What if I didn’t?

I have been sitting here for 2 hours barely being productive.  And not being blog productive.

I took yesterday completely off from the computer being Mothers day and all.  Saw my Mom and spent time with my wife.

A good day but no post written for Monday.  I have squandered my queue of Pre Written posts from the challenge, I need to spend a week and crank out 6 or 7.

So I have been closing windows and writing creative challenges and trying to figure out what to post on this blog.  And then I thought, “What if I didn’t post anything today?”  Would it matter?  I recently decided to bag a regular post on Wednesdays so that I could work on my other blog Cantankerous Old Coots, as well as fiction and  ebooks.

And you know what? Wednesday didn’t hurt me very much at all.  I still get a bunch of traffic and it seems ok.  Even on Sunday when I don’t turn on the computer at all until 9 pm or so isn’t doing bad.  So would cutting out Monday be a problem?

Actually I think it would.  Maybe later I can change that but not now.  4 months is not the time to slack off that bad.  I will just have to start writing Mondays post on Saturday!

Anyway, just me ranting today.  I am way too tired for this right now.  Have a good Monday everyone!

Please comment, digg or stumble upon below!

Is that your blog or is your brain leaking?

Man has it been an exciting day in Blogistan!  For some reason, my blog blew up today!  For the past few months I have been hoping every day to beat 72 visitors.  That was the most people that visited my site according to the Count Per Day plugin. I have been running that one since I started.  StatPress always shows a few more but it isn’t as pretty.

So I have been getting in the 60’s most of the time.  Today, I had 93 visitors when I checked 20 minutes after my latest post.  And it has just gone higher and higher.  At the time I wrote this, 2130 MDT (GMT-7), there were 218 visitors and almost 1100 pageviews!  That is TRIPLE what I have been getting.  I can only hope that this blog is catching on and this will be normal!

Sorry to brag like that but holy crap I am excited!  According to the calendar, I am just a week and a half away from my 3 month mark.  I hit a slight stumble of writers block after the Pre-Writing challenge but I am still going strong.  I am still planning my ebooks and fiction posts and where to go forward.

With help from Mike CJ I am working through the Beginners Guide to Blogging (look for a post on that soon) and will be pushing more and more things the right way.  I can’t be stopped.

Beware all of you who think that I will be giving up because I will still be here pumping out content and promoting.  I hope my traffic will continue  like this, I can see that it ended up with 251 views and 1244 pageviews.  That is far an above anything I have done up to now.  That is over half of the visitors that I had last WEEK!!

Enough from me now.  Thanks for reading and making my blog a success!  I would love to hear from you in the comments section below, can never have enough comments!  You can also sign up for my mail list, I am blitzing this week to get some subscribers!

Thanks for being here!

Long Day’s and Taking a Day Off

Hello all. You will notice that this post is somewhere close to 7 hours later than I usually post. It has been, as the title suggests, a long day. I am not just trying to complain. I could do that. But I won’t. I did however learn how to take apart my laptop and get the punch out of it. Presidents Day and the kids home from school do not necessarily make for the writing time bliss that I have allocated for a normal day.

Suffice it to say, I have post ideas now but no posts written. Yet another reason to join the Pre-Writing Challenge! We are beginning February 19th and will be going for a month in order to have 2 weeks worth of posts prewritten. See my page Here for more info. Would have come in handy for today as it would have on Friday!

So this brings me to today’s post. I have been debating the virtues of taking the weekend off. This weekend I scheduled some tweets to go out on Saturday for my fiction posts and then I didn’t get back on the computer for much of anything! It was kind of nice, not chaining myself to my laptop but I have hardly any traffic to show for it.

This may not be a bad thing. The good news is that I actually had traffic for 2 days with hardly any promotion. Not much traffic, mind you but some. That is the first step to becoming one of the big bloggers I think. Getting traffic without doing anything. Of course if I don’t do anything during the week my blog will fade and I will turn into nothing but a statistic; one of the failed bloggers.

I still am not going to post on Sunday. I am still going to post fiction on Saturday and put out e-books of said fiction when they are all out there. I will have some posts to post when I have issues with life. I was beginning to question whether it was worth posting or commenting on the weekends. It may be. I don’t think I will be doing anything different though.

If you are reading this Thank you! I will have more tomorrow at a more reasonable time. And it will be about hitting things.
