Kids songs and Dirty Lyrics

I was watching TV with my 4 year old the other day.  Usually she has the TV on while I am writing or commenting or otherwise trying to build my empire.

If you have a 4 year old or anyone who records their age in single digits with “and a quarter” you will know that they get focused on one particular TV show and beat the hell out of it.

My oldest daughter was born right before DVD became big.  She had a lot of video tapes.  There were certain ones that I prayed would break.  Some did.  Some “really” did.  One I know I stepped on “accidentally”.  It played for another year or so.  Then DVD came along.  You can’t let them degrade like a videotape.  They just keep going and going.

It is bad if you know where the scratch is on the DVD and it seems weird to not have it there if that show is ever on TV.  So now it comes to this.  Kids get obsessed.  All of my kids have been obsessed with the Wiggles.  My daughters have been obsessed with Dora The Explorer.  My youngest still is.  She is also obsessed with Scooby Doo.  I like Scooby Doo.

With that obsession you get many many repeats of theme songs.  They watch multiple episodes, get the CD, and sing them all of the time.  It is inevitable that those songs get stuck in your head.  And after approximately 12 million times “Dora, Dora, Dora the explorer” starts to get…..well….twisted in my mind.

A decidely PG-13 begins to form.  Followed by something that would make George Carlin blush and sailors run away crying.  I won’t write them here, this is a family friendly blog.  You can fill in the blanks for yourself.  Sometimes that is just how my mind twists…..

Don’t tell my toddler about the barbecue of Scooby Doo or Boots the monkey’s after hours endeavors.

Do you have any kids themes that need to be remade???  Comments are waiting!

A new Pastime: Geocaching!

Hello folks.  So it is tax time again and many of you will be cursing the IRS very soon, if you have not done so already.  For myself, we did fairly well with a decent sized refund.  A good chunk of that we spent redoing our kitchen, but some we spent on one of those fancy GPS units.  I wanted one that would be good for hunting and the outdoors, and then we got into a new hobby.  Geocaching.  It is a kick in the pants frankly.  You use your fancy GPS and the Geocaching.com website to go and find small plastic things to write your name on.

It is a great treasure hunt and sometimes there are prizes to trade for in the cache.  It is a great family friendly way for us to get out into the outdoors and running around.  My kids love it and so do I.

Adding more to the Plate

So here I am 4 1/2 months into my blog and doing pretty well.  I still am working on traffic, comments and writing ebooks.  I do forsee a problem brewing.  That is the weather.  It is getting very nice in Utah even with some great rain the past few weeks.  Oh yeah I found a hole in my roof I need to go patch.

Anyway, the weather is turning nice and there are many things that have to be done outside with my lawn, flowerbeds, and the vegetable garden.  All of these have not been a problem in the past, when my daughter was healthy.  Everything went to pot when she was in the hospital.

Last year was ok, this year promises to be great.  I can’t wait to get out and work.  There is however my blog to consider now.  I haven’t had the work commitments that a lot of you have had to deal with.  I have put hundreds of hours into my site and my burgeoning empire.

Now I have to figure out how to keep up with all of the yardwork, housework, and my work.  This is not bad.  This will be a good thing.  I have a 10 year old and a 7 year old that can pull weeds and move the sprinkler as good as I can.  That outsourcing thing that is the rage in the blogosphere nowdays.  I have 2 ebooks that are coming, one a stay at home dad primer, the other a book about our families journey with kidney failure.  I also have my fiction ebook of Jackson Malone that will be finished soon.  Plus new fiction saturdays and the Creative Copy Challenge!

To that end, you may be reading lessons over tomatoes, or things I taught my son in a weed patch.  Heaven help us when I get to the fishing reports.

Have a great Thursday folks!
