Hey Folks. I have decided to put something else out there on this blog, poetry. I have been writing poetry for years, some good, some bad, some just mushy to make my wife fall in love with me. I have decided now to put some of those poems out on Tuesday as well as some new stuff. Some of these are not super, I am not going to post the ones that I consider lame. There will probably be some classical stuff later on, I have a couple of “epic” style poems in Iambic Pentameter that are inspired my the old Roman and greek Poets, Homer, Virgil and the like.
I hope this will, if anything be at least some fun to read. Oh yea, there are silly poems as well, some still written on hamburger wrappers from an age long ago…:)
Today I don’t remember the story behind this poem but it is about Trees and Autumn. I am fairly sure it was a school assignment at some point. Anyway, Enjoy!
Autumn
By: Justin Matthews
Motion. Fluidity.
Poetry in its own right.
Beautifully Orchestrated Colors, Vibrant.
Red, Gold, Evergreen.
Fluttering in gentle breezes, Small sails.
Swaying in unison like Soldiers, Fallen Comrades and those soon to be.
Death all around; Cosmic Recycling.
Life bubbling within, while preparing for sleep.
Winter is nigh.
All told from the Trees, Fluidly moving in Autumn Breezes.
Comments are open and needed below.

I found a quote from George Orwell that really struck a chord with me.
“People sleep peacably in their beds at night only because
rough men stand readyto do violence on their behalf.”…..George Orwell
That quote hit me because I never want to forget those brave men and women who have given their lives for freedom and their country. A large part of being patriotic is remembering those who have gone before us and fought for the freedoms that we enjoy.
I speak as an American, but whatever country you live in there are heroes that have protected that country in the past. You may be related to them. You may be them. To all of you around the world who have served or are serving, no matter the country, I salute you.
I was not able to be in the military and as such I am one of those who sleeps peaceably. I do however, know and respect the sacrifice of those who serve me. I have always been and will forever be a staunch supporter of our troops.
I do not believe there will ever be complete peace in the world no matter what the songs may wish for. Without people willing to protect what we have, we will lose it to those who want to take it.
I always hope for peace that keeps our people at home but I am grateful that they are ready to go at a moments notice.
Please also see my page for our troops: Here.
Any comments would be appreciated!

Hello all. Well it has finally happened. The machine has gotten the better of me. Not for long to be sure, but for now, It has beaten me. What machine could do this? The mighty table saw. It is cliche and fills the world of sitcoms about guys cutting their thumbs on a table saw. But I did it. And it wasn’t funny. Or pretty.
This happened way back in October the 21st while I was cutting some pine to make magic wands for party favors for our Halloween party. One second of inattention, $1700 ER bill and now a thumb that is still not right. Yes it is finally healed over, but much is still numb or funky right over the scar.
I know, I know you are all laughing right now, and some are saying, “You should use a push stick dummy.” Well, I was using a push stick. Only problem, for some dumb reason, I reached over the top of the blade to catch a falling piece. I don’t usually reach for anything like that. I usually let them fall. But I didn’t.
Now, I sit here almost 4 months later, still trimming dead skin from the scar and wondering when this thing will finally be healed. It still hurts sometimes, the cold is not good on it. parts are still numb, and may always be.
So, what did I learn from all of this and why should you care about it? You can’t be too careful. When things get comfortable and routine you get careless. I got careless.
Well now here is an update. For some reason this has been a hard post to finish and hit the publish button on. It has now been 7 months. The thumb is healed pretty well. The scar tissue is there but not annoying. my fingernail has grown out and is finally normal. It got a little funky for a couple of months. Parts of my thumb are still a little numb, but I don’t notice it most of the time.
Well folks the time is here and I don’ tknow if my ass is getting worn out yet or it is just the chair. It has been 5 full months now that I have been posting on this blog and playing around. I am getting ok traffic and it is time to start charging for each blog post!
No of course I am kidding. My posts on here and for fiction Saturday will be free forever. But today I want to talk about money and how to separate people from it. I have been listening to Nathan Hangen’s podcasts in bulk lately and he has inspired me to get something going now.
What I am looking for today is some input. The time has arrived that the new baby is imminent and I need to get some cash in to cover the bills. I am trying to come up with a product that is not just another e-book for people to file away in the dusty recess of their hard drive and never read. I have too many of those myself. I want something to make people say, “Yea, that is good. Hey Steve, have you seen this?”
So here is a question. I want to ask something like what do you think of a stay at home dad membership site or mentoring thing but then I think how many stay at home dads are out there that actually would be willing to pay money for a site like that? Maybe an ebook would be better.
I have a couple of books that I am working on, but one is fiction and one is about my daughters kidney disease. I keep trying to figure out what exactly I have to offer besides writing, that people would be interested in. I haven’t started yet, but I am going to have audio versions of my fiction stuff available in the near future and I don’t see how I could charge for those, at least until the ebook comes out.
Anyone need a partner for a JV?
So, any ideas that people need tackled? I am just confused again at what kind of a product that I can offer that will be of value to people. I am not sure now what is important to share. I am working on a groovy workbook for kids on roadtrips. That will be a good one to get out.
Anyhow, what do you guys think? I expect comments on this one folks!
until later
