Again with the book reviews: Gateway to Reality

Greetings and Salutations my fine friends!  Today I bring you yet another review of yet another book by my friend Becca J. Campbell.  This one is a wild ride I have to tell you.  Hint: if you click on the picture there, you can go to Amazon.com and pick up a copy for yourself.

And now for the critical review part.  Becca has written yet another world of mystery while challenging reality.  Becca sent me this book as a reviewer copy so that I can give you all the good word and force ask you to go and buy it.  For the sake of an honest review: here goes.

This book was Becca’s most confusing book yet. At least at first, it took me a while to figure out where the characters were and who they were. The story began to make better sense and really pick up on the action a ways into it.

I particularly liked the small inside jokes that were throughout the story, movie references etc.

I did get a little distraught in the middle though.  It started to drag but I pushed through it and it picked up again finishing strong, and I was satisfied.  She didn’t however, finish up everything, setting up a sequel perfectly.

It seems as though Becca wants to write epics, and each book is just a bite sized chunk to make you hungry for the next.

All in all, this book is great. It is well worth reading and well worth waiting for the next one in the series, if there is one. If you are trying to decide if you should buy this book, right now, I mean RIGHT now, just do it, you won’t be sorry. (Just click the picture up there and you can get a copy for yourself.)

Now, I haven’t asked her directly yet, but I am still trying to figure out how she can find time to write fiction and pump out all of the books that she is doing.  She has young boys, one is just older than my 2 1/2 year old  and I can’t seem to get much of anything written with the kids running around and the house needing cleaning.  Kudos to her.

You can learn more about Becca at her website: BeccaJCampbell.com as well as see her contest for Gateway to Reality as well as unique insights into the twisted mind of a writer.  Seriously, she is great.  Other places to find her:

Twitter | Facebook | Goodreads | Pinterest | Amazon

She is also having a Rafflecopter giveaway: check out what you can win:a Rafflecopter giveaway

(I highly recommend the books.  Go buy them if you don’t win).

And as if that were not enough, she is doing something that I think is way cool.  A blog scavenger hunt.  Visit each site, each day, and get a clue.  Collect all 15 clues and you can get an additional 10 entries in the giveaway!  A good prize for reading some cool blogs that you may have not heard of before.  Go check them out.

finding things

Hey there all.  It is supposed to be Poetry Tuesday but I have nothing for you right now except this:

Roses are red,

Violets are blue,

The holiday’s are here,

Bah Humbug to you!

Lame I know but….Anyway, have you ever found something completely by accident and had no idea where it came from?   On your person more so than in your living room.  I was in the shower the other day and found a scratch on my leg that had some pretty significant scabs.  How did it get there? I don’t know.  All I know is I just found it.

Here is a question for you folks then, and it relates to blogging.  Have you been poking around your own blog and find that there is crap on it that you don’t remember knowing anything about?  Whether it is comments waiting for approval or spam deletion or updates on plugins or even someone has posted something that no one should have been able to post, is it time that you looked into some more security?

Now this is not going to turn tutorial to keep you blog safe.  There are plenty other sites out there that do a better job than I could.  I just want to say that you should look into at least changing your password once in a while.  Don’t get caught unawares and lose all of your hard work.

I would love to hear your thoughts.

Please remember to head to Amazon.com through my affiliate link over on the right there and if you are feeling generous, there is a donate button right here:

Thanks for all of your support, this site will be ported just as soon as I can get the new host set up.

Until next time,

Justin

A Cold for Christmas

Common cold

Image via Wikipedia

You know it doesn’t seem to matter the year, I always end up getting a cold around Christmas time.  I don’t know if it is because of the cold air and being outside, or if it because my kids are bringing germs home from school or because my wife is bringing home stuff from work.  The ER is a dirty, dirty place.

Whatever the reason, I seem to get the cold.  Sometimes I get a cold a bit earlier and hope that Christmas will be spared, but no, yesterday I woke up with a great head cold.  Maybe it will go away by Saturday night, but then again, maybe not.

The worst part of this, I have several gifts to finish making, and that will require more time out in the garage which is only a few degrees warmer than the outside.  I know you are thinking “Get a heater you dolt.”  and I would, except I can’t seem to find it since we moved.

So what to do…..shut your piehole Justin, take some vitamin C and get your presents finished.

How do you folks deal with colds during the holiday’s??

We will discuss it in the comments and then during tomorrows post.

If you haven’t yet, please update your bookmarks as justinsbrainpan may be leaving the internet in a few short weeks!  this site will forever then be on http://catharsisofthebogue.com!

See you tomorrow, I have gifts to finish.

Nothing But A Pile Of Sticks: Part 3- Kettlebell Conundrum

Bison

One of the funnest parts about having a ton of people help you move is that several people get to see what you have accumulated.  Luckily I don’t have a porn collection for anyone to find.  You should have seen some of the looks that I got when I was taking my guns out to the car.  Not to mention how uncomfortable one of the good church going guys was when he found the pistol under my mattress.

Among the fun things that people wondered over were the buffalo.  Wait, not the buffalo.  That is just a picture suggested by Zemanta with no discernible link to my article.  Actually the thing people wondered about were my Kettlebells.
