The Return of Poetry Tuesday: All Pales to You

Hello all.  Today I am returning Poetry Tuesday to the lineup!  This poem is one I wrote for my wife not too long after we got married.  I thought it would be appropriate with Valentines Day coming this Thursday.  Let me know what you think, and feel free to share it with your Sweetheart!

All Pales to You

By: Justin Matthews

There are stars alight in the winter night,

But all pales to you.

The Dawn shines golden o’er spring fields,

But all pales to you.

The summer is green, the trees shine with sun,

But none compare to you.

Trees are put to shame, You light the room, the space, the Universe.

My heart glows with thoughts of you,

My life better for having you.

You swell my heart to bursting point,

complete I have become.

Without you, Life is empty, the winter cold.

The midsummer blues can touch me not when I am with you.

You are my sun, my heart, my angel.

My everything is yours, do with me as you will.

I will never leave, nor be cast aside.

You my Dear are my one True Love!

Poetry Tuesday 3: Goodbye and Farewell

Hey Folks, back again for another Tuesday!  I hope you are having a decent week so far, It is almost Halloween!  Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, I have almost as many Halloween decorations as I do Christmas decorations.  I don’t however have a Halloween tree just yet….Forgive this commercial but if you need anything to spook up your place for Halloween, we have signs, candle holders, table runners and more at http://brendasquiltshop.com/shop!  All orders ship priority mail for $4.95.

Anyway, for today’s installment of Poetry Thursday I present a poem that I wrote a while ago.  I submitted this to the poetry contest at Poetry.com and got a letter saying they wanted to record it as part of a collection “to be released both on compact disc (CD) and cassette tape”.  2001 doesn’t seem like that long ago but when did we lose the cassette tape?  That is another post though.

So, for today, Goodbye and Farewell

Goodbye and Farewell

Goodbye my friends, My time is ended,
The hourglass slips slowly by.
I’ll bow out graceful, and take my leave,
To be a memory by and by.
Alas, time moves swift, now so must I,
My life’s twilight approaches,
Farewell to all who knew my life,
As death inexorably encroaches.
Goodbye my friends, weep not for me,
For ’tis a better place I go.
I will keep in mind each and every one,
Through rain, and sun, and snow.
Goodbye, farewell, To the future look,
As I take my Leave, My heart stays here
I’ll Love, I’ll go, I’ll not forget…..

Any thoughts?

Thanks for reading yet again!

Dark Clouds the Horizon yields,

A storm brews in my soul.

Torment and anguish twist themselves

Round me like Iron Bands.

A storm builds – explosion eminent.

Can my spirit survive the onslaught?

Will I be extinguished?

Will my life’s light be snuffed out

Like so many candles in the wind?

So Fragile, so strong at the same time

Can this inner torment be quelled?

Is there a balm for this pain?

Can Music save my soul,

Or am I ever Damned to silence,

And Pain in the void…

Is there light in a melody

That I can harness into a feeling?

Only time will tell,

Until then, I search…..

Poetry Wednesday: The discombobulated edition

I know I know, Poetry should be on Tuesday.  But this week I am a day off.  Let’s get right to it then!

Peritoneal dialysis

Image via Wikipedia

This poem was written at a conference we went to at Kidney Kamp after my daughter got sick.  We had been trying to do Peritoneal Dialysis on her for 4 months at this point, and it was not working.  It was at this camp that we finally ended all of the attempts at PD(peritoneal Dialysis) and went exclusively to Hemo Dialysis in the clinic.  She had been doing Hemo during those 4 months as well.

This conference, actually more of a symposium on dealing with kidney disease had a lady come in and have the parents write about their feelings.  Good for me, I wrote 2 pretty good poems that day.  I wil feature the other one another week.
